Kevin relays a narrative of conflict, resilience and triumph through his years as America's first openly gay professional firefighter. His story highlights the importance of personal values and having a sense of humor when facing adversity.
Kevin Mallinson shares stories and photos from his years in the Key West Fire Department. Attendees are asked to bring a white cotton t-shirt (or similar garment) to ensure size preferences, although we will have some additional t-shirts to distribute. We're having an all-ages tie-dye program to kick off Discover Summer and celebrate Pride Month. Johnson who is famous for her activism and social work from the 1970's-early 1990's. This activity is inspired by the flower crowns and elaborate head pieces made by trans activist, Marsha P. We will make flower crowns and headpieces with tissue paper and craft supplies.
